A competition for academia and industry.
A International Competition to Showcase the next generation of Field Robotics
Field Robotics Challenge 2016 is intended to bring together leading researchers, and act as a platform for demonstrating the latest robotic technologies for use in unstructured and dynamic environments.
The competition will reflect an agricultural scenario, played out on real world, challenging terrain. Teams will develop software to control, as well as collect and process data from, air and ground robots provided by the organisers. Tasks will include high- and low-level surveying by fixed- and rotary-wing unmanned aerial systems, and ground-based sampling and intervention by wheeled rovers. Participants will be encouraged to present their challenge solutions during a special session of the TAROS conference, with prizes awarded to the best teams.
The Field Robotics Challenge will run from the 26-27 June 2016, at High Bradfield in the Peak District national park. It is aimed at PhD students and early career researchers interested in deploying air and ground robots in outdoor environments. Small teams will compete against each other to complete a series of incremental robotics challenges.
