As part of the annual UK robotics week, Centre for Advanced Robotics @ Queen Mary University of London (ARQ) is organising the open day event to raise the awareness of robotics. Interested public is invited to visit newly opened robotics lab. We will demonstrate their latest projects, and visitors will have the opportunity to ask questions directly from the researchers. We will show how we see the future, and how robotics can change the environment around us. You will see:
- Robotics prosthetic hands and exoskeletons;
- Soft robots that are safe to work in our homes;
- Wearable robots;
- Haptics and tactile technologies;
- and other exciting robotic demonstrations.
The demonstrations in the laboratory space will be followed by public engagement talks on robotics from QMUL researchers in Octagon. The public and QMUL researchers will be able to communicate during the networking reception which will also be merged with the interactive robotics demonstrations installed.
The schedule of the event is as follows:
12:00 to 14:00 - Labs are open for visits of school children. Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with QMUL robotics researchers through trying interactive robotic demonstrations. (This time slot is reserved for visitors who are interested to attend demonstrations only). Venue - Robotics Lab
14:00 to 15:30 - Labs are open to interested members of public. Venue - Robotics Lab
16:00 to 18:30 - Talks from member of robotics at QMUL. Venue - Octagon
18:30 to 20:30 – Interactive demonstrations and robot dance performance at Octagon, networking reception combined with demos (robotics and other related research groups). Venue - Octagon
Robotics lab is located in the Engineering Building (entrance from the bancroft Road) - ground floor.
