Welcome to the School Robot Challenge 2017.
This is a competition to inspire school children by robotics and nature. It aims to provide a compelling introduction to computer aided design and bio-inspired design through the design of a virtual robot bug and teaching it to move. The competition is open to all school children and students in the UK. There are two competitions open to school children; one for ages 4-12 yr-olds and the other for 13-18 yr-olds.
What will I learn?
We hope it will provide you with a basic introduction to 3D computer aided design and bio-inspired design,as well as provide you with some ideas on how to bridge the gap between creative art and computing. This competition aims to be inspiring, educational and fun.
Who is running the competition?
The competition is run by the EPSRC UK-RAS Network, a network of UK universities that specialise in Robotics & Autonomous Systems. It is part of a family of competitions organised for the UK Robotics Week (24 - 30 June 2017). A panel of judges consisting of leading designers and engineers will select the winning designs.
What are the judges looking for?
The judging panel will select their favourite robot bug and robot bug garden. They will choose designs that are innovative, interesting, fun, compelling, technically advanced or beautiful.
