Open Day
We have taken advantage of an offer to use the de-commissioned Fawley power station to make a film to demonstrate the application of robotics to civil applications such as search and rescue, disaster recovery, dealing with an extreme pollution/ contamination events and the scientific use of robots for climate research. The film uses a hypothetical disaster simulated at Fawley and we teamed up with a local school who provided actors. The deployment of underwater vessels, maritime robots, rotary wing drones , fixed wing UAVs as well as ground robots, morphing robots, crawling robots, “snake” robots will be demonstrated. At the film premiere, alongside showing the film, we will exhibit and demonstrate some of the robots that appear in the film. The event is for local schools and colleges and the general public, as well as all stakeholders in the project.
We want to broaden public perception of robots and show that they have vital civil applications in grand challenge areas like climate change, environmental monitoring and emergency response which are all areas that affect everyone's lives.
A public event to launch our film demonstrating the application of robotics to civil applications such as search and rescue, disaster recovery and dealing with extreme pollution/ contamination events.
